C&C: Serving the Lord is a Heart Condition

Connections and Comparisons is an ongoing weekly series that deals with many scriptures in the Bible, some of which are not commonly addressed.  The purpose of this series is to examine the scriptures at hand comparing what is said and looking at the connections within.

Psalms 119:1-3
1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.
2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.
3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.

Pay special attention to what was just said.  Those that are undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the Lord, keeping His testimonies and seeking God with the whole heart do no iniquity: they walk in His ways!

On the other hand those that are defiled in the way, do not walk after the law of the Lord, do not keep His testimonies, and do not seek him with the whole heart.  These do iniquity: they walk not in His ways!

Serving the Lord is a heart condition!

Mark 12:29-30
29 And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Those that keep the law of the Lord and those that keep His testimonies, walking after the statutes of the Lord, are those that love the Lord our God with all their heart, and with all their soul, and with all their mind, and with all their strength.  This and knowing that the Lord our God is one Lord is the keeping of the first commandment.

Serving the Lord is a heart condition!

Jeremiah 29:12-13
12 Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you.
13 And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.

It is when you call upon the Lord, seeking the Lord, praying to the Lord and searching for the Lord with all your heart that you will find the Lord and when He will hearken unto you.

Serving the Lord is a heart condition!

Jeremiah 17:9-10
9 The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
10 I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

You can not put your trust and your faith in your heart, but your trust and your faith must be according to what saith the Word of God.

Serving the Lord is a heart condition!

Hebrew 4:12-13
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.

Psalms 44:21
21 Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

Psalms 90:8
8 Thou hast set our iniquities before thee, our secret sins in the light of thy countenance.

There is no secret that the Lord does not know, for the Word of the Lord is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. All things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

Serving the Lord is a heart condition!

Proverbs 4:20-23
20 My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
21 Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
22 For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.

Keep the ways of the law of the Lord!  Keep His testimonies and live!  Keep His righteous judgments and keep your heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life!

Serving the Lord is a heart condition!

Proverbs 4:24-27
24 Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
25 Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
26 Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
27 Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.

Proverbs 15:3-4
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

Matthew 12:33-37
33 Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.
34 O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
35 A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.
36 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.
37 For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.  What is within the heart of man will surely come out! But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

Serving the Lord is a heart condition!

Mark 7:18-23
18 And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;
19 Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?
20 And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.
21 For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,
22 Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:
23 All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

Proverbs 28:26
26 He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.

Proverbs 14:11-12
11 The house of the wicked shall be overthrown: but the tabernacle of the upright shall flourish.
12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

Let us who are of the day be not defiled in the way.  Let us who walk in the law of the Lord continue keeping His testimonies and His righteous judgments, seeking God with the whole heart.  For they that walk in His ways do no iniquity.
