Come let us Grow Together: Heroin

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (Jn 14:6) Heroin is not your answer! Is it a hurt in your heart that is calling you? Is it the pleasure of sin for a season that is calling you? Heroin is not your answer!

Is the pain in your life coming from sorrow of heart? Is it the pain of anxiety, worry, and fear that is drawing you? Is it the pleasure of rebellion that is drawing you? Or is it the dire need to be noticed? Heroin is not your answer! Is it the cool crowd that is calling after you or is it the haughty spirit that is calling you? Heroin is not your answer! Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!! Whether you have had an experience with Him or not! Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!!

You want free from pain of the heart? Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!! You want free from rebellion and a haughty spirit? Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!! I rebuke that haughty spirit from you right now in Jesus name!! There’s power in the name of Jesus!! Heroin is not your answer!

Heroin has killed many of it’s slaves!! I said satan has killed many of his slaves of which you have become because of your own rebellious desires and pleasures!! But praise be to God who is always your answer!! You need Jesus not heroin!! I’m talking about a crying out in repentance of all of your sins to Jesus who was, is, and will always be your answer!!

You need a strong support system of Holy Ghost filled saints of God who will bind together with you against this attack from the devil and claim all authority over this foul spirit and demonic attacks!! However, you must first repent of your sins and then, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7) Call for the elders of the Church no matter the time of day or night because “whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it” (1 Cor 12:26) and we will stand together with you and will fight along side you because we love you and you are part of the Lord’s body. Heroin is not your answer! Cocaine is not your answer! Crack is not your answer! Ecstasy is not your answer! LSD is not your answer! Synthetic Marijuana is not your answer! Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!!

“Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” (James 5:16) Anybody need a healing? “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed”. You are not alone!!

Faith, hope, truth, life!! Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!! It’s time to forgive yourself for your mistakes!! Let go of resentments, feelings of guilt and shame, bitterness, and hatreds before it totally consumes you!!

“While it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts, as in the provocation. For some, when they had heard, did provoke: howbeit not all that came out of Egypt by Moses. But with whom was he grieved forty years? was it not with them that had sinned, whose carcases fell in the wilderness?” (Heb 3:15-17)

Heroin is not your answer! Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!! Quit running away from God and call out to Him.

Psalms 34:17-18
17 The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth, and delivereth them out of all their troubles.
18 The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.

Psalms 145:17-18
17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works.
18 The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.

Psalms 46:1
1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

Hebrews 13:5-8
5 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.
6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.
7 Remember them which have the rule over you, who have spoken unto you the word of God: whose faith follow, considering the end of their conversation.
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Heroin is not your answer! Jesus was, is, and will always be your answer!!

Come let us Grow Together: Addictions and Afflictions

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

When it comes to addictions whatever they may be, to beat the cycle of defeat, guilt, frustration, condemnation, etc., you must first acknowledge your problem. Then you must take your problem to God through repentance. You must tell God you are sorry for your sins and that you need His help to break this cycle of addiction that you are afflicted with. The second thing you must do is to make yourself accountable to another person.

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. (James 5:16) He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. (Pro 28:13)

When you confess your faults one to another this should be someone you have confidence in and trust. This person should be someone that you can depend on that will not tell others of your problems and also one who will take your problem before God with you.

You also need to develop a closer relationship with Jesus Christ. This is done by developing a deeper understanding of the Word of God and through praying daily. We then use the Word of God to change our thoughts, attitudes, and overall behavior.

Matthew 11_28-30

Do not condemn or judge yourself when you mess up, but rather confess your sins to Jesus and repent of them. Judging and condemning yourself will only bring forth feelings of guilt, shame, feelings of no self worth, and ultimately depression.

Remember it is God who justifies the ungodly and not we ourselves and we are of much more value in the eyes of God than many sparrows.

Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows. (Lk 12:6-7)

Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt. But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness. (Rm 4:4-5)

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (1 Jn 1:9)

It is important to understand and remember that we do not earn forgiveness and none of us our worthy of the Lord’s mercy or forgiveness. Yet, “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (Jn 3:16) For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Rm 8:3-4)

For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. (Rm 8:13) For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. (Rm 8:6-7)

It is highly important that you begin to learn scriptures that you may, “fight the good fight of faith,” and “lay hold on eternal life.” (1 Tim 6:12a) And that you may put on the whole armour of God to fight against the enemy of your soul. (Eph 6:10-18) <—–Read this.

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; (1 Pet 1:13) The word gird means to encircle or secure with a belt or band. Abstain from all appearance of evil. (1 Thess 5:22)

Understand what is taking place:

Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him. Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death. (James 1:12-15)

What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s. (1 Cor 6:19-20)

Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. (James 4:7-8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. (1 Peter 5:8-9)

Remember “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” (Phil 4:13) Therefore be not of a doubtful mind. (Lk 12:29b)

Come let us Grow Together: Thoughts, Attitudes, & Behavior

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

Your thoughts create attitudes which corresponds to your behavior. It is important to realize that as Christians each one of us must mold our Thoughts, Attitudes, and Behavior to that of which the Word of God teaches us. In so doing, each one of us will begin to talk the same talk and to walk the same walk. This is because we are of the same mind, because we have molded our thoughts to what thus saith the Word of God!

(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (2 Cor 10:4-5)

Did you hear it? Are weapons are mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds. You must guard your thoughts!! What are you telling yourself? What are you allowing your mind to ponder upon? What manner of spirit are you of?

But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. (Lk 9:55)

Not only must you guard your thoughts, but you also must guard your attitude and your behavior! Are you of a positive attitude or a negative attitude?

We can learn a lot by looking at the report of the 12 spies sent out by Moses to give a report of the promised land. We see 2 different reports and we see 2 different spirits!!

The first report was negative…

And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it. Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan. (Num 13:26-29)

And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we. And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature. And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight. (Num 13:30-33) This resulted by their thoughts which were produced by a doubtful spirit. This spirit spread to the entire congregation!! The spirit of doubt!!

And all the congregation lifted up their voice, and cried; and the people wept that night. And all the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron: and the whole congregation said unto them, Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! And wherefore hath the LORD brought us unto this land, to fall by the sword, that our wives and our children should be a prey? were it not better for us to return into Egypt? And they said one to another, Let us make a captain, and let us return into Egypt. (Num 14:1-4)

This doubtful spirit which was produced by their evil report of the land brought forth a negative attitude in which they spoke and questioned God. Would God that we had died in the land of Egypt! or would God we had died in this wilderness! Ultimately their corresponding behavior was to devise a plan to return in to Egypt!

However, Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh were of a different spirit!!

And Joshua the son of Nun, and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, which were of them that searched the land, rent their clothes: And they spake unto all the company of the children of Israel, saying, The land, which we passed through to search it, is an exceeding good land. If the LORD delight in us, then he will bring us into this land, and give it us; a land which floweth with milk and honey. Only rebel not ye against the LORD, neither fear ye the people of the land; for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the LORD is with us: fear them not. (Num 14:6-24)

Joshua and Caleb were of a positive spirit of faith!! They believed the Lord!! And they gave a different report in accordance to what they believed, which was produced by their thoughts. Their thoughts produced a positive attitude and their corresponding behavior was to take the land in which the Lord had promised to them!!

And the Lord said,

Because all those men which have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice; Surely they shall not see the land which I sware unto their fathers, neither shall any of them that provoked me see it: But my servant Caleb, because he had another spirit with him, and hath followed me fully, him will I bring into the land whereinto he went; and his seed shall possess it. (Num 14:22-24)

It’s in your mind set. It’s in your belief system. Faith says I can!! Doubt says I can’t! It’s time that each one of us challenge our belief system!! Let us examine our thoughts and see if what we are telling ourselves is truth or a lie!! Is our thoughts of a doubtful spirit or are they of a faithful spirit?

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. (Pro 18:21) Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. (Eph 4:29) Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. (Col 4:6)

He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. (1 Jn 2:6)

It’s all in your Thoughts, Attitudes, and Behavior!!

Come let us Grow Together: As a Man thinks in his Heart

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God.  The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: (Pro 23:7a)

And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin. (Rom 14:23)

And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind. (Lk 12:29)

Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; (1 Pet 1:13)

Gird – to encircle or secure with a belt or band.

That means secure your mind and let not your wrongful thoughts consume you, by not allowing yourself to have those thoughts any longer.

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.  Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: (Eph 6:11-17)

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. (Pro 3:5-7)

Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way. Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. I have sworn, and I will perform it, that I will keep thy righteous judgments. (Psa 119:104-106)

Precept – a general rule regulating behavior or thought.

All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits. Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.  (Pro 16:2-3)

Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. (Col 3:2-3)

Faith says “I CAN”

I would like to talk to you about our thoughts.  It is important to realize that as Christians each one of us must mold our thoughts to that of what the Word of God teaches us.  In so doing, each one of us will begin to talk the same talk and to walk the same walk.  This is because we are of the same mind, because we have molded our thoughts to what thus saith the Word of God!

2 Corinthians 1:19-20
19  For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.
20  For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

Philippians 4:13
13  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

It’s in your mind set.  It’s in your belief system.

Faith says I can!!  Doubt says I can’t!!

Romans 14:23
23  And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Did you hear it?  Whatsoever is not of faith is sin!!

It’s time that each one of us challenge our belief system!!  Let us examine our thoughts and see if what we are telling ourselves is truth or a lie!!

Proverbs 23:6-7
6  Eat thou not the bread of him that hath an evil eye, neither desire thou his dainty meats:
7  For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.

Hear it again!!  For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he!!  Your thoughts are directly responsible for your feelings!!

If you believe you are a failure, then you will be a failure.  If you see yourself as a world changer, you will become a world changer.  For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.

You must guard your thoughts!!  What are you telling yourself?  What are you allowing your mind to ponder upon?

Philippians 4:8
8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

This is a great filtering system for your thoughts!!  Think upon whatsoever is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and things that are of a good report!!  Not a negative report!!  But things which are of a good report!!

Do not spend your time thinking about and speaking to others about things that are of a negative report!!  Even if the negative report is true, we are not to spend our time dwelling upon it.  We are to think on things that are of a good report!!  This does not mean you live in a fairy tale world, but this means if you hear or see a negative report, you do not have to dwell upon it and you do not have to share it with everyone.  Instead look for the good in the bad!!

1 Peter 1:13
13  Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;

gird:  to encircle or secure with a belt or band.  Notice carefully that we are to HOPE to the end!! For the grace that is to be brought unto us at the revealing of Jesus Christ!!  We are to maintain hope until the end!!  We are to maintain a positive attitude through hope!

How do we maintain hope?  We must maintain our faith!!  Remember, Faith says “I Can”!!

Hebrews 11:1
11:1  Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

To maintain hope we must maintain our Faith.  To maintain our Faith we must maintain our Belief system.  To maintain our Belief system we must apply the Word of God to our thoughts casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ!!  In order for you to do this, you must know the Word of God!!  You must gird up the loins of your mind and apply what thus saith, the Word of God!!

2 Corinthians 10:4
4  (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Did you hear it?  Are weapons are mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds.  For all the promises of God in Christ are yea, and in him Amen!!  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.  Faith says, “I Can!! and I will!! not by my own strength, but through Christ which is my strength!!

1 Peter 5:8-9
8  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

He cannot devour one who has girded up the loins of their mind!!  He cannot devour one that is applying the Word of God.  He can only devour those who let him!!  Those who are either ignorant of the Word of God or those who are not applying the Word of God!! [re-read v. 8]

9  Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

Your thoughts are directly responsible for your feelings!!  If you allow yourself to think that you are trapped and without hope, then you will feel trapped and without hope!!  Examine your thoughts.  When you begin to feel unwanted feelings, stop! and begin to think about what you were thinking about.  What are you telling yourself?

Learn to identify what you are thinking that is triggering your unwanted feelings and learn to replace your unwanted thoughts with other thoughts and your feelings will begin to change.  But you must not only replace your unwanted thoughts with other thoughts, you must also change your underlying belief system that you are irrationally holding on to that is causing you to have the unwanted thoughts you were having.

Are you feeling down and out?  Are you feeling depressed?  Examine your thoughts and see why you are feeling this way.  What are you telling yourself?

Are you telling yourself that you feel down and out?  Are you telling yourself that you feel depressed?  Because your feelings are a direct result of what you are thinking.  Are you telling yourself that you are without hope?  Are you telling yourself that you can’t make it?  All of these types of thoughts are going to make you feel that you are without hope?  Is this true?  Remember what we are to be thinking about?  Whatsoever things are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and whatsoever things are of good report.

How are you without hope when Christ is the hope of glory?  Is what you are telling yourself true?  Examine your thoughts and tell yourself what is true.  I can make it!!  I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me!!  Tell yourself the truth!!  I am not without hope.  I have all hope in Christ Jesus.

I may have felt feelings of despair, but the truth is everything is ok.  I’m a child of God!!  I’m a child of the king!! And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell. (Mt 10:28)

Romans 8:28-32
28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31  What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32  He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?

All things!!  Not some things!!  But all things!! Turn your negative thoughts into positive thoughts!!  Boy I’m having a hard day, but thank God the day doesn’t define my future!!  But my obedience to Jesus Christ and the Word of God does.

Do not stop with just saying, Boy I’m having a hard day.  This will give you a completely different set of feelings.  You can change your thoughts and your belief system simply by adding more information to what you are telling yourself.  Boy I’m having a hard day, but thank God the day doesn’t define my future!!  But my obedience to Jesus Christ and the Word of God does.

Address feelings of Self Worth and Worthlessness.  Is it true that you are worthless?  Is it true that you have no value?  Not according to the Word of God.

Matthew 10:29-31
29  Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.
30  But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.
31  Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

Are you not judging and condemning yourself while telling yourself that you are of no value and worthless?  Is not this the way you see yourself?  Is this true then?  The answer is no as we have seen.  You must then change your belief system and the way you perceive yourself!!  You must challenge these unwanted thoughts and lies that you are telling yourself?  You must ask yourself is this true?  Does this align up with the Word of God?  If it does not, then you must remember that the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds; Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Luke 6:37
37  Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:

1 Corinthians 4:3-4
3  But with me it is a very small thing that I should be judged of you, or of man’s judgment: yea, I judge not mine own self.
4  For I know nothing by myself; yet am I not hereby justified: but he that judgeth me is the Lord.

Do not begin to feel overwhelmed!!  Do not begin to think that I cannot do this!!  Faith says, “I Can” Remember this is a process of time.  It will take time to begin to recognize your unwanted thoughts and to then replace them with thoughts that are true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and things that are of a good report!!

Each time you apply this, you will see your unwanted negative feelings disappear and new feelings will appear in their place, depending on what you are now telling yourself.  You must believe that you can change your unwanted negative feelings!!

Luke 12:29
29  And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind.

Faith says, “I can”!!!  Gird up the loins of your mind and be not of a doubtful mind!!  For all the promises of God in Christ are yea, and in him Amen!! If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. (Mt 17:20b)

Do you believe it?  Do you believe the Word of God?  You must eliminate your doubtful mind and the worries that accompany it!!  You must learn to let the peace of God rule your heart and your mind through Christ Jesus!!  Faith says, “I Can”!!

Philippians 4:6-7
6  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

A precious promise of God!!  However, the key to allowing this peace of God to keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus was to 1) Be careful for nothing.  Which means do not allow yourself to be anxious for anything!!  2) But in every thing by prayer and supplication 3) With thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

At that point is when you say never the less Lord your will be done and not my will.  It is at this point that you 1) Choose to refuse to allow yourself to be anxious 2) That you place your faith in the Lord that whatever the Potter chooses to do will work together for your good 3) You then place your trust into the Potter’s hand 4) Wait with patience for what you have sought from the Potter 5) Accepting the will of the Potter with contentment.

This is a delicate balance of belief, faith, hope, trust, acceptance, patience, and contentment.  You must maintain each one of these in order to allow the peace of God to rule your heart and mind.

If any one of these gets out of balance due to the thoughts you are having you will lose the peace of God that you were experiencing.  This is because Belief and Hope maintain your Faith and Trust.

If you allow yourself to begin to Worry, then the Hope you had in what you sought from God will begin to waver which will directly influence your Faith.  This negative influence on your Faith will then begin to destroy your Trust that you had in God, which will then begin to destroy your Belief in what you Hoped for in God.

Fear tells us things like:

I can’t do that.  What if I mess up?  What if someone sees me mess up?
How can I handle myself if I am made fun of?  I don’t understand.
Who do I turn to?  Where will I go?  How will I get there?
What if I made the wrong choice?  Should I rethink what I’ve done?
What should I do?

All of this fear is directly tied to your belief system which is completely controlled by your thoughts!!  What are you telling yourself that is provoking this worry and fear?  And is it true?  Take the time to start analyzing what you are telling yourself that is provoking your fears, doubts, and worries.

What did the Word of God say?  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Phil 4:6-7) And seek not ye what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink, neither be ye of doubtful mind!! (Lk 12:29) Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ!! (1 Peter 1:13) (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; (2 Cor 10:4-5)

We must learn to bring our thoughts under subjection to the obedience of Jesus Christ!!  We must learn to challenge our thoughts and our belief systems and see whether or not they align up with the Word of God!!  If they do not, then we need to change our thoughts to that which does align with the Word of God.  This changing of your thoughts will also change your feelings because as man thinketh in his heart, so is he. (Pro 23:7a)

Therefore it is of the utmost importance that you focus upon telling yourself what is the truth and not allow yourself to continue to sabotage yourself with thoughts that are not true.  Remember to use  Philippians 4:8 as a filtering system for your mind and think about whatsoever is true, honest, just, pure, lovely, and things that are of a good report!!

Is this going to be easy?  The answer is no, but Faith says, “I CAN”!!

The Beauty of Contentment

To truly find contentment in one’s life, one must become acceptant to everything that happens in your life at all times.  The Bible States it like this….

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
16  Rejoice evermore.
17  Pray without ceasing.
18  In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

Did you hear that??  Rejoice at all times and in every thing give thanks.  Not in some things.  Not only when things are going the way that you like them or wish them to be.  But In Every Thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

The Lord wants us to be thankful at all times!!!

So how does one become thankful at all times?

First one must recognize that……

Romans 8:28-31
28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29  For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.
31  What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

Amen!!  So all things work together for good to them that love God and our called according to his purpose.  We also learn something else of interest.  Those whom God foreknew he also did predestinate.

Would this eliminate choice?  Of course not.  God knew the end before the beginning.  So through this foreknowledge God already knows the choices you will make and who then are His.  So those that were His, he did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son.  And so those that He predestinated, He called, and those He called, He justified through His Son, and those whom he justified, He then also glorified.  This is why the Apostle Paul states, “What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?”

Our Job as the children of God is to Press on!!

Remember…….

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2  A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3  A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4  A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5  A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6  A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7  A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8  A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.

We must also fully Trust in God, having Faith in His Word, and have an understanding of trials, tribulations and the final outcome.

Proverbs 3:5-6
5  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
6  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Do you believe it??  Do you want your path directed by God??  Then one must apply a few things.  First, one must trust in the LORD with all of your heart.  Does this sound familiar???

Mark 12:29-31
29  And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord:
30  And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31  And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these

Second, one must learn not to lean upon your own understanding.  Why??

Proverbs 20:24
24  Man’s goings are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

And Finally, in all of your ways, you must acknowledge God.  If you will apply these three things, then God will direct your path.

So what about trials, temptations, and tribulation?

James 1:2-4
2  My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
4  But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.

So here we see that temptations, try our faith.  And this trying of our faith will teach us patience.  If we then let patience have her perfect work, then we will learn to want nothing.

So the understanding of trials and temptations is a big part of understanding how we can become content.

But I will forewarn you.  Don’t find yourself content without God.  For contentment without God is the path of a fool

1 Timothy 6:6-12
6  But godliness with contentment is great gain.
7  For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
8  And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
9  But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
10  For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
11  But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after  righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.
12  Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.

So what about Tribulations?

Romans 5:3-5
3  And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience;
4  And patience, experience; and experience, hope:
5  And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

We as Christians must learn that……

Philippians 1:21
21  For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

2 Corinthians 5:6-10
6  Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord:
7  (For we walk by faith, not by sight)
We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10  For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

This is a key ingredient for how the apostles achieved contentment through their persecutions.  They were aware that to be absent from our bodies is to be present with the Lord.

Remember what Jesus tells us…..

Matthew 10:28
28  And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Up to this point we have found that for one to find contentment and Godliness, one must become acceptant of everything that happens in one’s life at all time, by acknowledging that all things work together for good to them that Love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.  We must Trust in God with all of our heart, having faith in His Word, leaning not on our own understanding.  We must acknowledge God in all of our ways, and then God will direct our paths.  We must also remember that the trying of our faith works patience.  And if we let patience have her perfect work, then we will be complete and lacking nothing.  Because it is through our trials and tribulations that we gain patience, then we gain experience, which leads to hope.  And this hope makes not ashamed.  Why?  Because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which has been given unto us.

And what is this hope??

Colossians 1:26-27
26  Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
27  To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

Finding Godliness with contentment also requires Temperance or Self Control.  Want Peace in the midst of your Storm?  You Must find Contentment.  Without Contentment, there is no Peace.

Philippians 4:4-13
Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.
Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand.
Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8  Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9  Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
10  But I rejoiced in the Lord greatly, that now at the last your care of me hath flourished again; wherein ye were also careful, but ye lacked opportunity.
11  Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.
12  I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13  I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

Here what Apostle Paul tells us???  I can do all things through Christ.  Not through his self, but through Christ which strengthens him.  Remember….

2 Corinthians 12:10
10  Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.

How is he strong??  Through Christ that strengthens him.

Mark 9:23
23  Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.

Do you believe today???
