Come let us Grow Together: Alcohol

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge and understanding in things pertaining to God.

“And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;” (Eph 5:18) Have you been filled with the Holy Spirit of God? This is what you need in your life. A relationship with Jesus Christ where you have been born again and have the Holy Spirit of God. Don’t spend your time getting drunk with wine or any other kind of alcohol. Rather be filled with the Holy Spirit of God! Being filled with the Holy Spirit of God is not a one time experience. You can be filled over and over again. Even as the scriptures teach us that it isn’t a one time experience.

The Apostles already had the Holy Ghost as we find in Acts chapter 2 where the birth of the New Testament Church began. “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” (Acts 2:1-4)

Yet we read again where they were filled with the Holy Ghost. “But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye. For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard. And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.” (Acts 4:19-20, 23, 31)

The Apostle Paul when writing to Titus also tells us how we were saved and this included “renewing of the Holy Ghost”. “But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;” (Titus 3:4-6)

Finally, we also see that the Holy Ghost is not a one time experience in the book of Jude. “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.” (Jude 20-21)

“Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.” (Pro 20:1) “Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again.” (Pro 23:31-35) “Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!” (Hab 2:15)

It’s time to “be filled with the Spirit” and leave off from getting drunk on alcohol. “Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:” (1 Peter 1:13-14)

Come let us Grow Together: Our Entire Walk with God through this Lifetime

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge and understanding in things pertaining to God.

God’s will for our lives is for us to live in peace. Peace of mind. The place of contentment and rest in the hope we have both now and in the world to come. “If it be possible, as much as lieth in you, live peaceably with all men.” (Rm 12:18) “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:” (Heb 12:14) “In your patience possess ye your souls.” (Lk 21:19)

Hebrews 12_14

Let’s talk about patience. In the context of the scripture given here in Luke the Word of God is referring to the end of days. However, it applies to each of our daily walks as well. Not from that particular scripture taken in it’s context, but in conjunction with all the scriptures that speak of patience. It all comes down to our patience not only in God’s time but also for God’s purpose. And we are given precious promises such as knowing that “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Rm 8:28) Whether it be unjustly held in captivity such as Joseph who made the proclamation “But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive”, (Gen 50:20) or whether it be for a just reason that one is in their situation due to bad choices such as King David who had a just man killed in battle to steal his wife away from him and so lost his first son of Bathsheba. “And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the LORD. And Nathan said unto David, The LORD also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. And Nathan departed unto his house. And the LORD struck the child that Uriah’s wife bare unto David, and it was very sick.” (2 Sam 12:13-15)

Our entire walk with God through this lifetime is a walk of hope while also suffering afflictions and that of patience. “Take, my brethren, the prophets, who have spoken in the name of the Lord, for an example of suffering affliction, and of patience. Behold, we count them happy which endure. Ye have heard of the patience of Job, and have seen the end of the Lord; that the Lord is very pitiful, and of tender mercy.” (James 5:10-11) “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing. If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.” (James 1:2-7)

Count it all joy when you fall into divers temptations. When our flesh is in struggles with the cares of this life and deceitfulness of lusts and riches of this life we are to count this all joy because happy is the man that endures for this man is laid up a crown of life. “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.” (James 1:12) “Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” (James 1:3) “In your patience possess ye your souls.” (Lk 21:19) “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.” (Heb 12:2-3)

“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” (Gal 5:17) This is how you end up in a contrast of opposing thoughts when trying to follow after the Spirit. There is a war here. Yet you can find peace, love, and joy in the Holy Ghost while patiently enduring “stripes above measure, in prisons more frequent, in deaths oft. Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. Beside those things that are without, that which cometh upon me daily, the care of all the churches.” (2 Cor 11:23-28)

“For our gospel came not unto you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Ghost, and in much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you for your sake. And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost: So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.” (1 Thess 1:5-7) LOOK AT THE CONTRAST!!! Having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost.

“For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:” (Col 1:9-12)

WITH JOYFULNESS, Strengthened with ALL MIGHT, according to HIS GLORIOUS POWER… leading unto ALL PATIENCE and LONGSUFFERING……. YET WITH JOYFULNESS!! YET THIS CAN BE DONE WITH ALL JOYFULNESS!!!! LET THE MERRY HEART SING AND REJOICE FOR WHEN YOU ARE WEAK THEN ARE YOU STRONG!!!! AND THOUGH LED AS SHEEP TO THE SLAUGHTER WE ARE MORE THAN CONQUERORS THROUGH HIM THAT LOVED US!! REMEMBERING IN PATIENCE POSSESS YE YOUR SOULS!!! WITH ALL JOYFULNESS EVEN AS CHRIST SUFFERED YET IN ALL PATIENCE AND LONGSUFFERING WITH JOYFULNESS HE BORE OUR SINS DESPISING THE SHAME YET LOOKING AHEAD AT THE JOY.

Come let us Grow Together: If it weren’t for the Mercies of the Lord

Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.

If it weren’t for the mercies of the Lord any one of us may also find ourselves in prison some day for something we have done, God forbid, but remember wrong choices can sometimes ruin your life and everyone you knew in connection with you. It is of vital importance that you hear what I am saying to you. If it weren’t for the mercies of the Lord any one of us may also find ourselves in prison some day for something we have done. Wrong choices can sometimes ruin your life and everyone you knew in connection with you.

Lamentations 3_22

Lamentations 3:22
22 It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. You may be getting by with what you are doing right now but everyone of us have been guilty before God “Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” (Psa 51:5) It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. We were all guilty before God!! No one is exempt from this! So quit running from God and quit running after your own carnal ways!! If God wanted you dead you wouldn’t be alive! If God wanted you drinking everyday of your life he wouldn’t have given you the opportunity to be born again of water and of the Spirit!! It’s time to put the bottle away!! “Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.” (Eph 5:17-21)

“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law. Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come. But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Rm 5:8-21) If it weren’t for the Mercies of the Lord we would all be damned to eternal hellfire in the Lake of fire to be revealed in due time!!!

Hear me!! It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. Stop running from God and quit looking for another fix, another hit, another pill, another drink, more sex, more ungodliness, more filth, and more wickedness, and more lewdness. “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” (Rm 13:11-14)

It’s time to repent and let God both heal you and forgive you of your past and press on toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus! Wherein our redemption is found! For if it weren’t for the mercies of the Lord we would all be consumed!! Not one of us would stand!! It is only be the grace of Almighty God and the redemption found in Christ Jesus that anyone of us can be made whole!! Do you want to be made whole? Do you want to find that place of peace that God has to offer to you through Jesus Christ? Then it’s time to come home! I said it’s high time to awake out of slumber and come home! It is of the LORD’S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. But I have done this and I have done that and I say to you the Apostle Paul wreaked havock on the church of the Living God, entering into every house, and forcing men and women committing them to prison. The Apostle Paul said “I verily thought with myself, that I ought to do many things contrary to the name of Jesus of Nazareth. Which thing I also did in Jerusalem: and many of the saints did I shut up in prison, having received authority from the chief priests; and when they were put to death, I gave my voice against them. And I punished them oft in every synagogue, and compelled them to blaspheme; and being exceedingly mad against them, I persecuted them even unto strange cities.” (Acts 26:9-11) If it weren’t for the Mercies of the Lord we would all be consumed!!

It’s time to come home! No more excuses!! It’s time to come home! Jesus said, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Mt 11:28-30) It’s time to come home!

To those who have never been born of water and of the Spirit as Jesus instructed Nicodemus in John chapter 3 verses 1-8 today is the day of salvation! It’s time to fulfill what Jesus has freely given to you and apply God’s free plan of salvation. To be born again of water and of the Spirit the Apostle Peter with the rest of the Apostles present told all of us how we are to be born again as Jesus had instructed saying, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.” (Acts 2:38-39) Is the Lord calling you? Then it’s time to come home and partake of the rest of the Lord and to those who have not yet obeyed the scriptures of how to become born again you need to “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost” before it’s to late and you make your final arrival to the Lake of fire where the fire is never quenched! It’s time to come home!

Jeshurun is Waxen Fat

Deuteronomy 32:15-16
15 But Jeshurun waxed fat, and kicked: thou art waxen fat, thou art grown thick, thou art covered with fatness; then he forsook God which made him, and lightly esteemed the Rock of his salvation.
16 They provoked him to jealousy with strange gods, with abominations provoked they him to anger.

Jeshurun is a symbolical name for Israel. This song of Moses that God gave to him was to be a prophetic witness against the children of Israel for their forsaking the Law of Moses and turning their back on God who brought them out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, with plagues, and mighty wonders in the sight of their eyes.

Deuteronomy 32:28-44
28 For they are a nation void of counsel, neither is there any understanding in them.
29 O that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their latter end!
30 How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?
31 For their rock is not as our Rock, even our enemies themselves being judges.
32 For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter:
33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.
34 Is not this laid up in store with me, and sealed up among my treasures?
35 To me belongeth vengeance, and recompence; their foot shall slide in due time: for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things that shall come upon them make haste.
36 For the LORD shall judge his people, and repent himself for his servants, when he seeth that their power is gone, and there is none shut up, or left.
37 And he shall say, Where are their gods, their rock in whom they trusted,
38 Which did eat the fat of their sacrifices, and drank the wine of their drink offerings? let them rise up and help you, and be your protection.
39 See now that I, even I, am he, and there is no god with me: I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal: neither is there any that can deliver out of my hand.
40 For I lift up my hand to heaven, and say, I live for ever.
41 If I whet my glittering sword, and mine hand take hold on judgment; I will render vengeance to mine enemies, and will reward them that hate me.
42 I will make mine arrows drunk with blood, and my sword shall devour flesh; and that with the blood of the slain and of the captives, from the beginning of revenges upon the enemy.
43 Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people: for he will avenge the blood of his servants, and will render vengeance to his adversaries, and will be merciful unto his land, and to his people.
44 And Moses came and spake all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Hoshea the son of Nun.

At verse 43 we learn of the Gentiles being called by God and that He will be merciful unto his land, and to his people. Both Jew and Gentile becoming one people in God which is through Jesus Christ our Lord. Remember this song was given to Moses before the children of Israel passed over Jordan into the land of Canaan. It was a testimony against the children of Israel that once they took the land they would forget their God who delivered them from Egypt and who had given them all this land. Jeshurun waxed fat.

Isaiah 3:1-15
1 For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water,
2 The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient,
3 The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.
4 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.
5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable.
6 When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, saying, Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let this ruin be under thy hand:
7 In that day shall he swear, saying, I will not be an healer; for in my house is neither bread nor clothing: make me not a ruler of the people.
8 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.
9 The shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves.
10 Say ye to the righteous, that it shall be well with him: for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.
11 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him.
12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths.
13 The LORD standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.
14 The LORD will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people, and the princes thereof: for ye have eaten up the vineyard; the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
15 What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts.

Jeshurun waxed fat and defiled and polluted the Lord’s vineyard. Declaring their sins even as Sodom did. Their princes and leaders caused them to err and follow after other gods. Their tongues and their doings provoked the Lord. The ancients of his people and the princes were guilty of eaten up the Lord’s vineyard; spoiling the poor and taking their spoil into their houses.

Isaiah 5:1-7
1 Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:
2 And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.
3 And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.
4 What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?
5 And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:
6 And I will lay it waste: it shall not be pruned, nor digged; but there shall come up briers and thorns: I will also command the clouds that they rain no rain upon it.
7 For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.

Deuteronomy 32:19-24
19 And when the LORD saw it, he abhorred them, because of the provoking of his sons, and of his daughters.
20 And he said, I will hide my face from them, I will see what their end shall be: for they are a very froward generation, children in whom is no faith.
21 They have moved me to jealousy with that which is not God; they have provoked me to anger with their vanities: and I will move them to jealousy with those which are not a people; I will provoke them to anger with a foolish nation.
22 For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains.
23 I will heap mischiefs upon them; I will spend mine arrows upon them.
24 They shall be burnt with hunger, and devoured with burning heat, and with bitter destruction: I will also send the teeth of beasts upon them, with the poison of serpents of the dust.

In verse 21 in the song of Moses God has spoken that in his jealousy because of the children of Israel’s idol worship that they had provoked him to anger. In return God is going to provoke them to anger with a foolish nation this being the gentiles which would take place through Jesus Christ our Lord. At verse 43 in the song of Moses above we also saw the calling of the gentiles when the Lord said, “Rejoice, O ye nations, with his people”. We see through God the calling for Israel’s destruction while leaving a remnant.

Isaiah 65:1-9
1 I am sought of them that asked not for me; I am found of them that sought me not: I said, Behold me, behold me, unto a nation that was not called by my name.
2 I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way that was not good, after their own thoughts;
3 A people that provoketh me to anger continually to my face; that sacrificeth in gardens, and burneth incense upon altars of brick;
4 Which remain among the graves, and lodge in the monuments, which eat swine’s flesh, and broth of abominable things is in their vessels;
5 Which say, Stand by thyself, come not near to me; for I am holier than thou. These are a smoke in my nose, a fire that burneth all the day.
6 Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom,
7 Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together, saith the LORD, which have burned incense upon the mountains, and blasphemed me upon the hills: therefore will I measure their former work into their bosom.
8 Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants’ sakes, that I may not destroy them all.
9 And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there.

In verses 1 and 2 we see God turning to the gentiles a nation that didn’t seek for God turned to God while at the same time God said of the children of Israel that he had spread out his hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walked after their own thoughts. At verses 6 and 7 God says, “Behold, it is written before me: I will not keep silence, but will recompense, even recompense into their bosom, Your iniquities, and the iniquities of your fathers together”. This was written in the song of Moses of their turning away from God and his judgment against them for it. While also prophesying of turning to the gentiles because of Israel’s wickedness of which God testified of them in the song of Moses, For their vine is of the vine of Sodom, and of the fields of Gomorrah: their grapes are grapes of gall, their clusters are bitter: Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps. And again, in verse 9 of Isaiah chapter 3 saying, the shew of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! Then we see the Lord with his great grace and mercy give them hope along with the gentiles through Jesus Christ saying, Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and one saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing is in it: so will I do for my servants’ sakes, that I may not destroy them all. And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there. This seed out of Jacob is Jesus Christ of the tribe of Judah and the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

Romans 9:27-32
27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
29 And as Esaias said before, Except the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, we had been as Sodoma, and been made like unto Gomorrha.
30 What shall we say then? That the Gentiles, which followed not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith.
31 But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness.
32 Wherefore? Because they sought it not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law. For they stumbled at that stumblingstone;

As God said in his mercy, And I will bring forth a seed out of Jacob, and out of Judah an inheritor of my mountains: and mine elect shall inherit it, and my servants shall dwell there. We see from verses 27 through 29 from Romans speaking of what Isaiah prophesied from Isaiah 65:8-9 and then revealing to us how the children of Israel stumbled at that stumblingstone of which is Jesus Christ. They stumbled because they followed after the law of righteousness not by faith but as it were by the works of the law of which no flesh can be justified because by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Romans 3:19-23
19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
20 Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
21 But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22 Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

They stumbled at that stumblingstone. For “if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law. But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.” (Gal 3:21-22) “But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.” (Gal 3:11-12)

Matthew 21:33-46
33 Hear another parable: There was a certain householder, which planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a winepress in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went into a far country:
34 And when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.
35 And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another.
36 Again, he sent other servants more than the first: and they did unto them likewise.
37 But last of all he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
38 But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance.
39 And they caught him, and cast him out of the vineyard, and slew him.
40 When the lord therefore of the vineyard cometh, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
41 They say unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his vineyard unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits in their seasons.
42 Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord’s doing, and it is marvellous in our eyes?
43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.
44 And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
45 And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parables, they perceived that he spake of them.
46 But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.

In this parable we also learn that the Jews were jealous and envious of Jesus, of whom was the Son that they were going to slay, to seize on his inheritance. At verse 43 Jesus says, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. This would be the nation of the gentiles as prophesied throughout the Old Testament and by Jesus Christ. This was the stumblingstone, the stone the builders rejected, the same becoming the head of the corner. Jesus Christ the chief corner stone. And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.

1 Peter 2:4-10
4 To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious,
5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
6 Wherefore also it is contained in the scripture, Behold, I lay in Sion a chief corner stone, elect, precious: and he that believeth on him shall not be confounded.
7 Unto you therefore which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner,
8 And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:
10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

The kingdom of God taken away from the natural seed of Israel and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. The gentiles a people that sought him not was found of him which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

Exodus 19:5-8
5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine:
6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel.
7 And Moses came and called for the elders of the people, and laid before their faces all these words which the LORD commanded him.
8 And all the people answered together, and said, All that the LORD hath spoken we will do. And Moses returned the words of the people unto the LORD.

The children of Israel didn’t keep the covenant of the Lord as God himself testified through the song of Moses that they wouldn’t but rather Jeshurun waxed fat and the kingdom was taken from them and given to a nation producing the fruits thereof. The Lord said if you keep my covenant then “ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people” they would “be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation”. This is the same thing the Apostle Peter has spoken above concerning, Jesus Christ being “a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.” Those that are obedient to Jesus Christ not stumbling at the stumbling stone or the word these have entered into the inheritance promised to Abraham saying, “Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ” and “ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light”. Even as prophesied in the song of Moses and the parable of the vineyard spoken by Jesus Christ above.

Romans 9:3-12
3 For I could wish that myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my kinsmen according to the flesh:
4 Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;
5 Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
7 Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
8 That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.
9 For this is the word of promise, At this time will I come, and Sara shall have a son.
10 And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
11 (For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth😉
12 It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.

Jeshurun waxed fat and missed the time of their visitation but as many as received him became the sons of God. Jesus bearing them witness.

Luke 19:41-44
41 And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,
42 Saying, If thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace! but now they are hid from thine eyes.
43 For the days shall come upon thee, that thine enemies shall cast a trench about thee, and compass thee round, and keep thee in on every side,
44 And shall lay thee even with the ground, and thy children within thee; and they shall not leave in thee one stone upon another; because thou knewest not the time of thy visitation.

John 5:36-47
36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
41 I receive not honour from men.
42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

John 1:10-13
10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

Even as the Apostle Paul spoke “Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect” for “the children of the promise are counted for the seed.”

Galatians 3:16-18
16 Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
17 And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.

Even as the Apostle Paul said, “For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called. That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.” ” For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.”

John 15:1-11
1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.
2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit.
3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you.
4 Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
6 If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
8 Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples.
9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

James 5:7
7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.

Hebrews 4:6-11
6 Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
7 Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
8 For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.
9 There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
10 For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
11 Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

Jeshurun is Waxen Fat and the kingdom was taken from them and given to a nation producing the fruits thereof.

C & C: The Spring Board of Life! Take the Dive!

Connections and Comparisons is an ongoing weekly series that deals with many scriptures in the Bible, some of which are not commonly addressed. The purpose of this series is to examine the scriptures at hand comparing what is said and looking at the connections within.

The spring board of life is believing that Jesus is the Son of God and that he was put to death for the sins of the world. Taking the dive is having faith to believe that you will receive everlasting life when you dive into the water. The water is the receiving of the Holy Ghost which is also known as the Spirit of life. So, what are you waiting for? Take the dive.

You can believe that Jesus is the Son of God and never take the dive into the water. You can climb onto the diving board and refuse to exercise your faith and dive into the water. Whether out of fear or simply because you do not want to change your lifestyle.

If it is out of fear that you refuse to take the dive then I ask what is the fear you are having? God has promised to give his Spirit to anyone that obeys him. “And we are his witnesses of these things; and so is also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.” (Acts 5:32) However to obey him you must understand how to take the dive. You don’t want to take the dive only to find out that you never landed in the water. How can this be? You didn’t obey him even though you thought you did because you were taught incorrectly. If the reason you haven’t taken the dive is because you don’t want to change your lifestyle then I ask you what is your soul worth to you? “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?” (Mt 16:26)

John 7:37-39
37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.
38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

So how do you know when you take the dive from the spring board of life whether or not you landed in the Holy Ghost water? You must apply the scriptures. What do the scriptures teach concerning this.

Acts 2:1-4
1 And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
3 And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

When these people dove off the spring board of life they landed in the Holy Ghost water. How do we know. They “began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” This is how it was prophesied to come. “For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people. To whom he said, This is the rest wherewith ye may cause the weary to rest; and this is the refreshing: yet they would not hear.” (Isa 28:11-12) Are you one that will not hear? What about when those of Samaria received the Holy Ghost? Did they get it automatically because they were believers in Jesus Christ? What does the scriptures teach about it?

Acts 8:12-17
12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

The scriptures show us that the people even though they had believed the preaching of Jesus Christ, had accepted that Jesus Christ was the Son of God, repented of their sins and “were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus”, that these believers still didn’t have the Holy Ghost “For as yet he was fallen upon none of them”. These believers received the Holy Ghost when the Apostles Peter and John “laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.”

Simon the sorcerer “himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done”. However, even after wondering at all “the miracles and signs which were done” he didn’t offer any money to have this power also but when he saw that the believers received the Holy Ghost he offered money to buy this gift so that he could make gain off of it and go about laying hands on people that they may receive this free gift. So what did he see? And why was this even greater than “the miracles and signs which were done” insomuch as he offered money for having this power granted to him to make merchandise off of others by selling them the free gift of the Holy Ghost? The answer for what he saw was given already in Acts 2 above “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” Simon had to have seen the people receive the gift of the Holy Ghost evidenced by speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance because had he not seen anything outwardly taking place after previously “beholding the miracles and signs which were done” and yet not offering money that he might be able to do the same, then it had to be something else. So we know what he saw and he knew this gift of the Holy Ghost was beyond “the miracles and signs which were done” that he had already witnessed.

There are several accounts that show us in the Book of Acts people receiving the Holy Ghost and that when they did they spoke with other tongues as the Spirit gave them the utterance. We will look at those scriptures as well. But first let us look at what Simon said via the scriptures.

Acts 8:18-24
18 And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
19 Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
20 But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
21 Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
22 Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
23 For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
24 Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the Lord for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.

Let us look at another example of people who did not receive the Holy Ghost just because they were believers in Jesus Christ as the Son of God.

Acts 19:1-6
1 And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

Notice carefully the question the Apostle Paul asks? “Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?” This question would never have been asked if you received the Holy Ghost just because you believe in Jesus Christ as your personal savior. These disciples said, “We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.” Then take careful attention and listen to what the Apostle Paul asks them. “Unto what then were ye baptized?” Why would he ask them this question? Remember the Apostle Paul received the gospel teaching directly by Jesus Christ himself and did not learn it of men. He did not learn the teaching of Jesus Christ from the other Apostles. Jesus Christ revealed to the Apostle Paul by direct revelation the gospel teaching of Jesus Christ. “But when it pleased God, who separated me from my mother’s womb, and called me by his grace, To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: Neither went I up to Jerusalem to them which were apostles before me; but I went into Arabia, and returned again unto Damascus.” (Gal 1:15-17) So why did the Apostle Paul ask these believers who had never heard of the Holy Ghost this question? “Unto what then were ye baptized?” The Apostle Paul knew that to be born again you had to do as the Apostle Peter instructed when the Holy Ghost was poured out. He knew this by revelation of God and not by man. This is what the Apostle Peter said you had to do in order to be born again. “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” (Acts 2:38) So the reason that Apostle Paul asked the question to the believers who had never even heard if there were any Holy Ghost “Unto what then were ye baptized” was that he understood that you had to “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” The Apostle Paul then teaches the believers of Jesus Christ and “When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.” So the believers even after being baptized in Jesus name did not receive the gift of the Holy Ghost until the Apostle “Paul had laid his hands upon them” and when the Holy Ghost came upon them “they spake with tongues, and prophesied.”

Make sure that when you get on the spring board of life and take the dive that you land in the Holy Ghost water because you can take the dive and land somewhere else if you believe that you have received the Holy Ghost and haven’t spoke with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance as we can now see from scriptures that the Holy Ghost only comes into a person when it is evidenced by the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance. “But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.” (Rm 8:9)

John 4:5-14
5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

The spring board of life and taking the dive is not a one time experience nor is it intended to be.

Acts 4:19-31
19 But Peter and John answered and said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God to hearken unto you more than unto God, judge ye.
20 For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.
21 So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding nothing how they might punish them, because of the people: for all men glorified God for that which was done.
22 For the man was above forty years old, on whom this miracle of healing was shewed.
23 And being let go, they went to their own company, and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said unto them.
24 And when they heard that, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art God, which hast made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:
25 Who by the mouth of thy servant David hast said, Why did the heathen rage, and the people imagine vain things?
26 The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ.
27 For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together,
28 For to do whatsoever thy hand and thy counsel determined before to be done.
29 And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word,
30 By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus.
31 And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.

We know that the Apostle Peter and John already received the Holy Ghost when the day of Pentecost had fully come when the Holy Ghost was first poured out upon the believers. We can also see that the company of the Apostles Peter and John from their prayer were “thy servants” of Jesus Christ and so we know when “they were all filled with the Holy Ghost” that they were refilled with the Holy Ghost and spoke with tongues as the Spirit gave them the utterance.

Being renewed in the Holy Ghost is something we are instructed to do.

Titus 3:4-5
4 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared,
5 Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;

We are saved “by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;“. You can’t renew the Holy Ghost unless you first have the Holy Ghost of which we have seen only comes with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance. This also reveals to you that you can’t have any of the gifts of the Holy Ghost if you never received it in the first place. Which also shows you that divers kinds of tongues, which is a gift of the Holy Ghost, is not the same as receiving the Holy Ghost which will always be evidenced by the speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gives the utterance and we are saved not only “by the washing of regeneration” but also by the “renewing of the Holy Ghost“.

Jude 1:17-21
17 But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ;
18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.
19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.
20 But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost,
21 Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.

Jude who was addressing “…them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called” (Jude 1:1) which would be people who had already partook of being born again which also refers to the Holy Ghost as “them that are sanctified by God the Father” would be people who had received the Holy Ghost as it is by the Holy Ghost we are sanctified. “That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.” (Rm 15:16) So when he says, “But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost” he is speaking to those who “are sanctified by God”. Unless you believe that all these believers had quit praying and he was only encouraging them to start praying again then Jude was meaning to build up yourselves by praying in the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the Spirit gave them the utterance. It is highly improbable to believe the saints he was addressing had quit praying since the letter was sent to those “preserved in Jesus Christ, and called” (Jude 1:1).

Romans 8:26-27
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

The Apostle Paul is here referring to praying in the Holy Ghost “for we know not what we should pray for as we ought”. So the Holy Ghost within us “maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”

It’s time to get on the spring board of life and take the dive the correct way!

The God-Man

Adam and Eve sinned in the garden of Eden as we all know. God had told them not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and of evil. However, Eve was tempted by Satan and she did eat and also gave to her husband to eat and he did eat.

For this cause the Law of Sin and Death passed upon all mankind. The Law of Sin and Death is the soul that sins it shall surely die. It was for this reason that God had an eternal purpose in Christ. To redeem mankind from their fallen state. This plan of God was to send Himself as the Son of God to take away the sins of the world and to redeem mankind back unto Himself and thus we could once again become the sons of God by adoption.

01 Jesus Teaching

Genesis 3:14-15
14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

The woman’s seed would be Christ and the serpent’s seed are the children of the devil. This prophecy is the first prophecy given by God of the coming Messiah. This seed would be the seed of Abraham and also the seed of David according to the flesh.

Remember we are speaking of the dual nature of Christ. The dual nature of Christ being that He was 100% man and 100% God at the same time. Two natures, the divine and the human, physically united in the one person of Jesus Christ.

1 Timothy 3:16
16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

Who was manifested in the flesh? Let’s see what the scriptures teach us.

Isaiah 9:6
6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

So who was manifested in the flesh according to the scriptures? The everlasting Father was manifested in the flesh, not a non-existent second individual in the godhead known as God the Son.

This is important to understand. Our God is one. Not one God made up of three individuals. Our one God manifested Himself in the body of Christ to redeem mankind unto Himself. Thus the dual nature of Christ. 100% God and 100% man at the same time.

The mystery of godliness is understanding who the Son of God is. If one can understand who the Son of God is, then they will also understand who God is. For the Son of God is the man Christ Jesus of whom the everlasting Father indwelt.

Colossians 2:8-10
8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ.
9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:

All the fulness of the Godhead dwelt inside of the body of the man Christ Jesus. Again, 100% man and 100% God at the same time. Thus Jesus had a dual nature. He was the God-Man.

Matthew 1:22-23
22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying,
23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Who was manifested in the flesh according to the scriptures? The everlasting Father was. Thus Emmanuel, God with us.

John 14:10-11
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

We must remember that Jesus was both man and God at the same time. Therefore Jesus speaking as man said, “I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

If Jesus only said I am the Father, it would take away the fact that He was also a man. Therefore He said, “ I am in the Father, and the Father in me“. Notice that Jesus said, “the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

So who was manifested in the flesh? The everlasting Father was. Not a second individual in the godhead known as God the Son as the Trinitarians teach.

John 14:9
9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

John 10:30
30 I and my Father are one.

For Jesus is the expressed visible image of the invisible God. Jesus was both God and man at the same time.

So what about when Jesus was on the mount of Transfiguration?

Matthew 17:4-7
4 Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias.
5 While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
6 And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid.
7 And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid.

This is important to understand. Just because God the Father was in the body of Jesus Christ did not take away the fact that God is everywhere present, all knowing, and all powerful. Also, not forgetting that Jesus was both man and God at the same time. Thus the Eternal Spirit of God, speaking to the disciples, was making known to them that this was the very Christ, the Son of the Living God.

What about when Jesus was praying in the garden of Gethsemane? Was He praying to Himself?

This question forgets that Jesus was both man and God at the same time. Jesus had two natures. The scriptures tell us that Jesus prayed in the days of His flesh.

Hebrews 5:7-9
7 Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in that he feared;
8 Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered;
9 And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;

What many Trinitarian believers do not realize is this. God the Son was not praying to God the Father. If God the Son had to pray then by definition He would not be God. For as God He would not need help from anyone or anything. Thus even if you were a Trinitarian in belief, you must realize that Jesus was praying in his humanity to the eternal Spirit of God, which is God the Father.

With that being said, you must also realize that the scriptures teach the everlasting Father was manifested in the Son. And that Jesus said, “I and my Father are one.” Thus Jesus was both man and God at the same time. Not as two distinct individuals in the godhead, but as the everlasting Father indwelling the man Christ Jesus. Thus the fulness of the godhead was in the body of Jesus.

Jesus Christ was both the Son of man and the Son of God. God the Father was robed in flesh to redeem the world unto Himself.

2 Corinthians 5:19
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

Remember, God had an eternal purpose in Christ to redeem mankind from their fallen state of sin. (See Eph 3:11)

1 John 3:8
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

Romans 5:16-17
16 And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.
17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.)

We must not forget that Jesus had a dual nature. He was both man and God at the same time.

As to the human nature of Christ he hungered, thirsted, was fatigued, suffered pain and death. Christ “was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.” (Heb 4:15b) As to the Deity of Christ he was omnipotent, omniscient, and omnipresent.

As concerning the title of Son we must remember that when it is used, it always refers to the incarnation. Remember the scriptures said in Psalms 2:7b Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

When was the son of God begotten? According to scriptures it was at the conception of the virgin Mary.

Luke 1:35
35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

The birth of the virgin Mary fulfills this scripture, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

In Hebrews 1:5-10 we see prophecies from the Psalms fulfilled in Jesus Christ. But focusing on verse 5 it reads,

Hebrews 1:5
5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

Notice carefully the future tense “I will be” and “he shall be” in this scripture verse. It reads, “I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?” This lets us know again that this was not an eternal sonship, but rather the Son was begotten at a certain point in time, which was at the conception of the virgin Mary.

So when we read the words that Jesus spoke in the gospels, we must ask ourselves as to whether it was the humanity in him speaking or the divine. For example: when Jesus prayed He prayed in His humanity to the Eternal Spirit. When Jesus said the Father was greater than He, this was pertaining to humanity. When Jesus said that no man knows the day nor the hour of the coming of the Son of man no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only, this was according to the flesh. As to the Divinity of the Father dwelling inside of Him, He knew the day and the hour.

When we see prophecies in the Word of God concerning the coming of the Messiah, we must always take into account the dual nature of Christ. For Jesus was both God and man at the same time. For example.

Hebrews 1:8-9
8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.

In verse 8 we see the Son referred to as God and in verse 9 we see the Son referred to as man. So what we see again, is what we already know. That God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself. We see that God is 100% man and 100% God at the same time.

We can see clearly from verse 5 that God said, “I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?” Clearly a future statement concerning the Son being begotten. These prophecies in the first chapter of Hebrews are prophecies from the Psalms being fulfilled in Christ, who was both God and man at the same time.

So this was not a conversation between two people in the godhead, but rather the fulfillment of a prophecy spoken in the Psalms concerning how God made plans for the future through Christ.

Remember according to Romans 4:17 God “calleth those things which be not as though they were.

A perfect example of this is found in Revelation 13:8 concerning “the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

How was the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world when the Lamb was not begotten until roughly 4000 years after creation? The answer is God “calleth those things which be not as though they were.”

How did the Son who was not begotten until the conception of the virgin Mary create the worlds? The answer is through the Word of God which is the thought, plan, and mind of God. For God “calleth those things which be not as though they were.” Thus the Son who was not yet begotten, can create the worlds as the Word of God, which is the thought, plan and mind of God. This Word of God is the eternal Spirit of God or the Holy Spirit. For God is a Spirit and our God is one. Not one God made up of three individuals, but One God.

Our one God as the everlasting Father manifested Himself in the flesh as the Son of God and thus you have the God-Man. 100% God and 100% man at the same time. Thus you have Emmanuel. God with us.

Thus the mystery is revealed to us that Jesus Christ had a dual nature. He was the Almighty God and He was a man at the same time.

Colossians 2:1-3
2:1 For I would that ye knew what great conflict I have for you, and for them at Laodicea, and for as many as have not seen my face in the flesh;
2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ;
3 In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

C & C: The devil’s Slave Trade

Connections and Comparisons is an ongoing weekly series that deals with many scriptures in the Bible, some of which are not commonly addressed. The purpose of this series is to examine the scriptures at hand comparing what is said and looking at the connections within.

Ezekiel 18:4
4 Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden they became the children of disobedience and thus the devil “had the power of death” (Heb 2:14) over mankind. The devil’s Slave Trade had begun and mankind was in need of a Savior which would be Jesus the Christ. “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life: And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” (Gen 3:14-15)

2 Cor 4_4

Ezekiel 18:20-24
20 The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.
21 But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.
22 All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.
23 Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?
24 But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

Even though Jesus destroyed “him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;” (Heb 2:14) the law of sin and death still applies!!

Romans 6:14-18
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.

However, if “ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you” then you are “then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness“. So Jesus Christ made a way for all of mankind to be free and destroyed The devil’s Slave Trade. However, the soul that sins will still die as was stated, “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?

Romans 8:1-2
1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

The devil’s Slave Trade destroyed but the soul that sins will still surely die!!

2 Corinthians 4:4-7
4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus’ sake.
6 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us.

The devil still has the power to blind “the minds of them which believe not” because he is the father of the children of disobedience!! As promised in the Garden of Eden the prophecy spoken of God saying to the serpent the devil “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel” (Gen 3:15) was fulfilled in Jesus the Christ. Jesus was this seed of the woman, the woman being the virgin Mary, and this seed, Jesus the Christ, crushed the head of the devil upon his death at the cross of calvary where Jesus then descended into the bowels of the Earth and took back the power the devil had over mankind, that being death!! The devil’s Slave Trade was destroyed!!

Luke 4:18-19
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,
19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.

Hebrews 2:14-18
14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
15 And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.
16 For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham.
17 Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren, that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.
18 For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is able to succour them that are tempted.

Revelation 1:17-18
17 And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead. And he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last:
18 I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.

The devil’s Slave Trade destroyed!!

Ephesians 4:8-10
8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?
10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

So how can you become free of the law of sin and death since The devil’s Slave Trade is destroyed?

John 3_5 and Acts2_38 equals salvation

John 3:1-7
1 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Several things to discuss here. First off this born again process is not a fleshly birth but a spiritual birth as stated in verse 6. Also it is very important to remember that these instructions that were given here are instructions that were given just 7 verses prior to this scripture: 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Yet people will cling to verse 16 and claim to be born again while ignoring everything else Jesus spoke on. For instance: Did Jesus not just tell Nicodemus, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God? Did Jesus not also tell us except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. Did Jesus not also tell us He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.

God did so love the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. That is why we need to follow after the instructions that Jesus gave to us. Not just some of it. All scripture is given by inspiration of God. (2 Tim 3:16)

To fulfill being born of water you must be baptized as Jesus said, he that believeth and is baptized shall be saved.

Matthew 28:18-20
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Notice Jesus said, teach all nations, baptizing them, and teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you. Not just some things. But all things. For all scripture is given by inspiration of God. (2 Tim 3:16)

So here Jesus tells us to baptize them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. So what is the name?

Jesus tells us the name and we are also told that Jesus received His name by inheritance.

Hebrews 1:4
4 Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

John 5:43a
43 I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not:

John 17:6, 26
6 I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.
26 And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.

John 14:16-18, 26
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Luke 24:45-49
45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:
47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
48 And ye are witnesses of these things.
49 And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high.

Jesus opened their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, and told them what to speak. He told them to preach repentance and remission of sins in His name. And they did!!! He also told them to go to Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the Holy Ghost. They did!!!!

So when the Holy Ghost was poured out as the Lord had promised, the Apostles told everyone, including you and me, what they needed to do in order to obtain salvation.

Notice that the Apostle Peter, preached to them exactly what the Lord told them.

38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

(Lk 24:47 repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.)

(Jn 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.)

The Apostle Peter continues……

39 For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

The Plan of Salvation for every generation! Remember: The Holy Ghost will come into you with the evidence of speaking in another tongue as the Spirit gives the utterance. (Acts 2:4)

That is enough to tell you that the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost was Jesus. The Apostles did exactly what the Lord told them to do. They preached repentance and remission of sins in His name, with the understanding that the Lord had just given to them, thus fulfilling baptizing everyone in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.

Jesus prayed saying, “Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;” (Jn 17:20)

To follow what Jesus taught you must obey what “their word” was and their word as we have seen was exactly what Jesus told them to say and to do!!

Colossians 3:17
17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

This would include water baptism as we have already seen!! Now we are told explicitly “whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus“.
