Come let us Grow Together is a weekly series that deals with the many topical categories that exist within the Word of God. The purpose of this series is to grow in wisdom, knowledge, and understanding in things pertaining to God.
A way of life! A choice one makes! To be thankful at all times! No one said it would be easy, but we as the children of God must make a conscientious effort to apply the Word of God.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thes 5:18)
The Lord wants us to be thankful at all times!!! So how does one become thankful at all times?
First one must recognize that…… “all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Rm 8:28) Second one must realize that “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:” (Eccl 3:1) And finally one must realize that we are to “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (Pro 3:5-6)
This is how we become thankful in all things!!
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord; Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ; (Eph 5:18-20)
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. (Col 3:16-17)
By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. (Heb 13:15) Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. (Psa 150:2) Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. (Psa 100:4)
Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. (Col 3:12-15)
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (Heb 13:5)
